I don’t know who they are but this photo reminds me of me and my dad and my childhood. Shit, I miss this. I miss Waikiki and my fruit loop dress and eating jack in the box. I miss my mom getting mad at my dad. I miss driving home and listening to my dad sing. I miss spending all day at the beach with my family. I miss my family being together. I mean, we are. I know dads watching down on us but I miss us all in one room. I miss it so much and I never talk about it. Over the years Iv’e gotten really good at tuning things out. Just ignoring memories or thoughts or feelings. But they always creep in, while I’m driving or like right now, scrolling through my dash finding this photo. I feel like It’s this constant war in my head between remembering and forgetting. I’m glad this photo popped up and I’m glad someone took the time to take it. I’m glad that they realized that this moment was really really special. I’m happy for them. I’m happy that they have each other.

Fictional Places

aka places I wished to be

When you’re a kid, everywhere seemed as mystical as Narnia, as magical as Hogwarts and as heroic as Asgard. It seems like the world has lost its luster, when in reality, you have just lost your wonder. Nothing has changed. I promise. Pay attention for a while, and you can travel to somewhere magical.
